OMER DAY 16

Suffering as a Tool for Sanctification

“But not only that, let us also boast in our troubles; because we know that trouble produces endurance, endurance produces character, and character produces hope; and this hope does not let us down, because God’s love for us has already been poured out in our hearts through the Ruach HaKadosh who has been given to us.”

Romans 5:3-5

I find it curious that one section of Scripture may have many different meanings. And Romans 5:3-5 is one of these. In this setting, the Scripture shares with us how suffering many help us reach a state of sanctification. One of the major approaches we need to take, when we engage this journey, is to be introspective, to look inside and find what is there that prevents us from reaching towards Adonai Yeshua. No one else will be able to do this for us. Only with the assistance of the Blessed Holy Spirit of the Living God, will we be able to achieve this goal. Remember, sanctification gives us freedom in our love for Him and in His love for us.

Abba B’Shamayim, heavenly Father, teach us Your truth. Help us to uncover and eliminate those beliefs and values that are keeping us away from You. Enlighten us so that we may clearly know Your way and Your will. (1 Timothy 2:4) Help us to submit to Your authority fervently and without hesitation. We desire to draw near to You. B’Shem Adonai Yeshua, Mashichainu, our Messiah, Amen.
