Adonai’s Love – Chesed
“Adonai, in the heavens is your grace; your faithfulness reaches to the skies. Your righteousness is like the mountains of God, your judgments are like the great deep. You save man and beast, Adonai.”
Psalm 36:5,6
Do you see the word ‘chesed’ in these verses? In the Hebrew, chesed may mean ‘grace’, ‘faithfulness’ and ‘righteousness’. Each of the words has an element of action within it. For example, Adonai’s grace, also known as ‘hen’ in Hebrew, means to show mercy. But is grace only mercy? Not really; grace is a free gift, given to us by Adonai for simple being. Remember everyone, believer and non-believer alike, receives common grace. This is grace that is short of sanctification and is given as a free gift. What, then, is saving grace?
Saving gift is Adonai’s gift to all those who repent of their sins, turn around, or t’shuvah, the word in Hebrew, and make the conscious decision to walk on His path. Both common and saving grace are part of Adonai’s love for His children. For non-believers, those who have not repented, turned around and not follow His path, He gives common grace, because He loves them. To believers who have taken the necessary steps for righteousness, He gives saving grace, again, a free gift of love.
Abba B’Shamayim, Heavenly Father, thank You for giving your children, whom You love, Your free gift of grace. May we carry this gift with us, until the end. B’Shem Adonai Yeshua, Mashichainu, our Messiah, Amen.
