OMER DAY 35

Our Response to Adonai’s Love – Diminished Self

“So if you were raised along with the Messiah, then seek the things above, where the Messiah is sitting at the right hand of God. Focus your minds on the things above, not on things here on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with the Messiah in God. When the Messiah, who is our life, appears, then you too will appear with him in glory.”

Colossians 3:1-4

This is a unique question. Why unique? Well, we often do not ask ourselves how we respond to Adonai’s love. So, how do we respond to Adonai’s love for us? The answer is: we respond to Adonai’s love with a diminished self. How is this a response to our Abba’s love? Well, if we are told to emulate our Messiah, Adonai Yeshua, who Himself is God, are we not given a demonstration of His diminished self, as we read in Philippians 2: 6,7 – “Though he was in the form of God, he did not regard equality with God something to be possessed by force. On the contrary, he emptied himself, in that he took the form of a slave by becoming like human beings are.” As believers, we are all slaves of Adonai Tzva’ot, Lord of Hosts. Then, by diminishing our sense of self-importance and accepting the yoke of service He gives us, we are approaching His likeness, in its true sense. Praise Adonai for His guidance.

Abba B’Shamayim, Heavenly Father, thank you for giving us our Messiah, Who shows us the Way we need to walk. In Him we see the qualities You wish all of us to develop. Remove from us the attitudes of pretension and ambition. Help us to submit to Your will in order to better understand humility and contentment. Thank You for Your guidance. B’Shem Adonai Yeshua, Mashichainu, our Messiah, Amen.
