The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise . . . for it is not his purpose that anyone should be destroyed, but that everyone should turn from his sins. (2 Kefa/Peter 3:9)
Devotion 53
Building a Believing Home
As Chantal and I experienced, becoming followers of Adonai Yeshua, using Torah as our guide, was not an easy process. Frankly, there was more to unlearn, placed in our minds and hearts by well-meaning and incomplete teaching through teachers whose understanding of the Torah of Adonai Yeshua, whom Isaiah called El Gibbor, Mighty God (Isaiah 9:5), was either incomplete or non-existent.
And here is where the Grace and Love of our Beloved Yahweh, Creator of the Universe and Lover of our Souls, comes into play. He is patient, He is kind, He loves us beyond all our understanding. While reaching the goal of building a believing home is very important, of equal importance is the journey. From the writings of Jeremiah, we find: ‘I, Adonai, search the heart;
I test inner motivations; in order to give to everyone what his actions and conduct deserve’. The weeping prophet shares with us Yahweh’s desire to provide for us, as we work towards building within us, first, the right intentions, the right motives in building a believing home. In Hebrews 4:12 we read – ‘See, the Word of God is alive! It is at work and is sharper than any double-edged sword — it cuts right through to where soul meets spirit and joints meet marrow, and it is quick to judge the inner reflections and attitudes of the heart’. Being guided by Ruach HaKadosh, the Holy Spirit of the Living God, Rav Sha’ul, the Apostle Paul, provides us with a clear connection between the study of Torah, the Prophets and the Writings, known in Hebrew as TaNaKh, and our values and attitudes.
What we did learn, as were journeyed through the Hebrew Scriptures and the teachings of Adonai Yeshua and His disciples, what was written thousands of years ago is as applicable today, in the building of a believing home, as it was at the time of writing. Yes, the contexts are different and, yes, the principles and tenets are time-impervious.
We have been blessed, through the guidance and leadership of Ruach HaKadosh, to be moving ever closer to our goal of building a believing home.
CONSIDER: Are you looking for an authentic way to build a believing home? Are you more intent in following the Instructions of Yahweh, Almighty God, or the commands of men?
ACTION: Frankly, you will probably not succeed in building an ethically-based home, by following the commands of men. The building of a believing home, requires the read of His Word and the following of His precepts, as outlined in the Hebrew and Apostolic Scriptures.
PRAY: Abba B’Shamayim, Father in Heaven, we come before You seeking Your counsel, Your guidance, Your leadership, as we endeavor to build a believing home. As we read Your Word, we pray You will reveal to us what we need to know to travel on Your narrow path. In Your Beloved Name, we pray.
May the God of Avraham, Isaac and Jacob bless you richly.
